Protesting against the registration fee hike, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kharagpur students went on a hunger strike on Tuesday. Demanding that the hike in registration fee be withdrawn at the earliest, the students said they would continue with the protest if their grievances were not addressed. In April, the students had staged a peaceful protest against the Human Resource and Development (HRD) Ministry's decision to hike the fee from Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 2 lakh.
