Updated on Feb 29, 2016 05:30 pm IST

Gaurav Choudhary, economy editor at Hindustan Times, explains how Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's third budget has marked a strategic shift towards

Hence, this police shift indicates a significant push to the rural economy, with the budget being termed as a pro-poor one. With this, Jaitley has shunned populism while balancing the key priorities of investment, growth and jobs.
