Kin of Sardarpura victims to move HC

Family members of the 2002 Sardarpura communal riot victims will file an appeal in the High court against all the 42 accused who were acquitted by a designated Mehsana court on Wednesday. The Mehsana trial court's judgment, awarded life imprisonsment to 31 out of 73 accused, while acquitted 42 and freed11 other accused due to lack of evidence, in the case. Sadarpura is one of the nine Gujarat riots cases that were handed over to SIT. This is also the first post-Godhra train burning case in which convictions have taken place.
