Mud pack beauty treatment for Taj Mahal

Updated on Mar 15, 2016 03:33 pm IST

Nestled on the banks of the Yamuna River in the North-Indian city of Agra, The Taj Mahal continues to be one of India's hottest tourist destinations. However , air pollution and aging has caused some major damage to its look. Its sheen has been diminishing which has turned the white-marble structure somewhat yellow.

Archeological Survey of India, responsible for preservation of historical monuments, has undertaken the task of smearing the surface of the marble structure with Multani soil – a lime-rich clay – that naturally bleaches the marble.
