Police arrest 13 Maoist in Bijapur region of Chhattisgarh

In a swift action, Chhattisgarh police arrested 13 Maoist rebels from a couple of villages and nearby forest areas in Bijapur region of the state on Monday. Acting on a tip off, the police had launched a combing operation in the district. Meanwhile, the relations and family friends of the arrested men alleged foul play and say that the detained persons are innocent and cited certain earlier instances by branding these as harassment by the state police.
