India and the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) have signed the Terms of Reference (ToR) for negotiations on a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), marking a significant step towards strengthening economic and trade ties between India and the southern African bloc. The agreement provides a framework for both sides to begin discussions aimed at expanding bilateral trade and improving market access for businesses. The move is expected to create new opportunities for Indian exporters and strengthen commercial engagement with SACU member states — Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa.
