- Former union minister Babul Supriyo takes a u-turn. Supriyo earlier announced that he will quit politics and Lok Sabha. Supriyo, after meeting BJP president JP Nadda, said he will continue as MP. "Amit Shah, JP Nadda have asked me not to leave politics. My decision changed after that; I also got messages from asansol. I will continue my constitutional work as MP in Asansol. I cannot back out from the decision of leaving politics now. I will vacate the delhi flat soon; will relinquish security etc. I will continue working as an MP but won’t be involved in politics. I won’t join any other party, I am leaving politics," he said. Bengal BJP said Supriyo’s decision to continue in parliament is entirely his. Supriyo unsuccessfully contested the Tollygunge seat in March-April polls. He lost by around 50,000 votes which came as a blow to Bengal BJP. Supriyo resigned from the union cabinet before the PM's recent cabinet reshuffle.
