• Documentary filmmakers Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh are making waves with their newest film. Writing with Fire is about a newspaper run by Dalit women in rural Uttar Pradesh. The documentary has won prizes at the Sundance Film Festival and made it to the Oscars shortlist. The filmmakers knew they were onto something special after their first meeting with these women, they say. But Writing with Fire wasn’t an easy film to make. For five years, Thomas and Ghosh trailed three of the newspaper’s reporters, hopping onto buses and bullock carts to film the reporters as they worked. Take a look.
