Meloni jokes as JD Vance claims he has learned Italian, ‘I know you didn’t understand...’

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni lightly teased U.S. Vice President JD Vance over his Italian skills as the two met in Milan ahead of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony on Friday. Meloni, speaking in Italian, joked that Vance "didn't know" what she was talking about, prompting him to jump in and say he had actually learned Italian since their last meeting, to which she good‑humoredly replied that she had only said she was happy to have him there.
