New global oil shock: Iran warns Strait of Hormuz will remain unsafe despite Oman shipping deal?

Iran says a regional meeting in Muscat will examine a temporary Iran–Oman arrangement for safer commercial shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei cautioned that even if Tehran and Muscat agree on a route, it would not automatically make the waterway safe, because the wider U.S.–Iran maritime confrontation remains unresolved.
