Eye on Punjab polls, Kejriwal picks Sonu Sood as face for Delhi initiative

• Actor Sonu Sood will become the brand ambassador for Delhi govt's 'Desh Ke Mentor' initiative. CM Kejriwal Kejriwal said under the initiative students will be guided in making career choices. The initiative will see around 3 lakh mentors guiding 10 lakh Delhi govt school students. “Some of the students in govt schools come from very poor backgrounds and there are very few people to guide them. We are appealing to educated people to become mentors for these kids. Sonu Sood will be our brand ambassador for the programme. Sonu will mentor some kids & will appeal to others to do so,” Kejriwal said. This move of AAP govt is seen as a push for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. Sood came in the spotlight for helping migrant workers reach home during the first lockdown. “Many kids do not have anyone to guide them in making career choices. We need people who can mentor kids coming from poor backgrounds. Delhi govt is giving a platform to every person who wants to be a mentor. Now, you will get an opportunity to become the mentor & guide these kids,” Sood said.
