‘India ready to supply weapons systems to IOR countries’: Rajnath Singh

  • Rajnath Singh said India is ready to supply various types of weapons systems to IOR countries. The defence minister was addressing the Indian ocean region defence ministers' conclave. "India has to play an active role for peaceful co-existence of IOR countries. IOR conclave should focus on security and fight against terrorism. Defence industry presents attractive opportunities for foreign companies. India is ready to supply various types of weapons systems to IOR countries. Our startup ecosystem is playing a significant role in shaping self-reliant India," he said. Singh added, "India considers it important to keep the maritime neighbourhood safe and secure. 4 pillars of naval foreign cooperation carry significance in transforming India's reach. We endeavour to assist our maritime neighbours by providing assistance of every kind. The Navy evacuated 4000 Indian nationals under operation 'Samudra Setu' during Covid." The minister further added, "IOR forms an important part of the oceanic commons shared by the world. It has been the originator of ancient civilisation; acts as a constant source of resources. It provides tremendous economic opportunities to develop marine tourism."
