Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to New Delhi to attend the upcoming BRICS Summit, Iranian sources said on August 14. The summit is scheduled to be held in September as India hosts the 18th BRICS Summit under its 2026 chairship. The summit will be held under India's theme of “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”. India assumed the BRICS chairship from Brazil at the beginning of 2026. Pezeshkian's visit is significant amid India's growing engagement with Iran and comes as the two countries continue discussions on bilateral and regional issues. The Iranian president previously met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, in October 2024.
