Voting is underway in Kerala as the state goes to polls for all 140 assembly seats in a single-phase election, with voter turnout beginning strongly from early morning. Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar urged citizens to participate in large numbers after casting his vote, stressing that voter participation will shape the future of Kerala’s politics and highlighting what he described as the BJP’s strong performance in the election. Across Kerala, a total of 883 candidates are in the fray as voters decide the political future of the state. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also cast his vote in Thiruvananthapuram and appealed to people to exercise their democratic right, while taking a swipe at the BJP. Meanwhile, former Union Minister and BJP Kazhakkoottam candidate V. Muraleedharan said the large voter turnout reflects the public’s desire for change. He described the election as a milestone in Kerala’s political history and claimed it would mark the first step toward a “developed Kerala” in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat.”
