Finnish President Alexander Stubb says a ceasefire in Ukraine is unlikely before spring, urging Europe to maintain support for Kyiv despite its corruption scandal. Speaking to AP after observing military training near Helsinki, Stubb emphasised the need for “sisu” — Finnish resilience — as Russia intensifies hybrid attacks across Europe. Leveraging his personal rapport with Donald Trump, Stubb advocates for stronger military aid, tougher pressure on Moscow, and using frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine. He warned that Putin’s goals remain unchanged and stressed that diplomatic efforts must continue to secure Ukraine’s sovereignty and future security.
