Pakistan outpost destroyed in deadly attack as Islamabad hosts Iranian fighter jets

Pakistan is facing a fresh security crisis just as it tries to mediate between the U.S. and Iran. Militants stormed a security outpost in Bajaur district, killing at least eight troops and wounding dozens more in a massive attack claimed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The assault came as Donald Trump described the Iran ceasefire as a “favour” to Pakistan during remarks aboard Air Force One. Analysts say the violence raises new questions about Islamabad’s security situation and its ability to play a stable diplomatic role while tensions around Iran, Afghanistan and regional militancy continue to intensify.
