At a press conference detailing Russia’s October presidency of the UN Security Council, Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia outlined a packed agenda of debates on the Middle East, Africa, security, and international law. When asked about reports that President Trump may authorize Ukraine to use US-made Tomahawk cruise missiles, Nebenzia echoed Foreign Minister Lavrov, stating the transfer “will not change the situation on the battlefield” and that Russia would “find a response if needed.” He also dismissed US and EU attempts to reimpose Iran sanctions. Russian diplomats reiterated their openness to Security Council debate—even over contentious military escalations—and warned that “quick fixes” like Tomahawk deliveries would not resolve the larger conflict between Russia and the West.
