Putin met a powerful Asian leader, should US be very worried? Russia deepens ties in Southeast Asia

Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing to Moscow as the two countries discussed expanding bilateral ties. Putin expressed condolences over severe flooding in Myanmar and highlighted cooperation in economic, security and international affairs. Min Aung Hlaing thanked Russia for its support, including rescue assistance after Myanmar’s devastating earthquake last year. He described Myanmar as a reliable partner for Russia in Southeast Asia and said both sides would discuss agreements aimed at strengthening long-term relations. The meeting comes as Moscow and Naypyidaw seek closer cooperation across diplomacy, security and economic sectors.
