Putin threatens ‘unprecedented escalation’ after Ukraine strikes Russia's 'Shadow leet' near Libya

Ukraine has claimed a dramatic escalation in its war with Russia, alleging it carried out a long-range drone strike on a Russian “shadow fleet” oil tanker in the Mediterranean Sea, nearly 2,000 kilometers from Ukrainian territory. Kyiv says the Oman-flagged tanker Qendil was hit off Libya’s coast, marking the first claimed Ukrainian attack on a Russian-linked vessel in the Mediterranean. Ukrainian intelligence justified the strike by alleging the tanker was being used to evade Western sanctions and funnel oil revenues into Moscow’s war effort.
