Nandan Nilekani: How to vaccinate a billion people | On The Record

<p>Once the mission of developing a vaccine for Covid-19 is accomplished, India is staring at another Herculean task - administering the vaccine on more than a billion people. Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of Infosys and former chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India, which manages the Aadhaar scheme, says that India will have to vaccinate 5-10 million people per day, otherwise the drive may take too long. He also supported leveraging the Aadhaar experience to make the vaccine programme more efficient, instead of using traditional methods. Nilekani said that a new and dedicated vaccination infrastructure along the lines of Aadhaar would be better for the task. </p>

‘Majority students want NEET & JEE as per schedule’: IIT director on protests

<p>A massive row has started over conducting the JEE & NEET exams amid the Covid pandemic. The opposition parties are holding protests to corner the Modi government over the issue. Six non-BJP ruled states have also approached the top court seeking a delay in the examinations. They argue that it is unsafe to conduct exams amid pandemic and many students themselves are under quarantine and will miss the examinations. The government though has been adamant, the number of admit cards downloaded by students to claim that students are themselves in favour of holding exams. ‘Congress has become Rip Van Winkle’: Sanjay Jha lashes out at CWC resolution

<p>A day after the Congress working committee refused to act on the points raised by 23 party leaders in their letter to Sonia Gandhi, suspended party leader Sanjay Jha has lashed out. Speaking to Hindustan Times' Aditi Prasad, Jha said that nothing tangible came out of the Congress Working Meeting on Monday. Extending his support to the leaders who penned the note to Sonia Gandhi, Jha said that they are democratic voices within the party and added that there is nothing objectionable in the letter. He also said that over 300 party leaders across the country have lent their support to the letter and said it a 'call for change' in the party structure. ‘People are laughing’: Sanjay Jha on Congress leadership after CWC resolution
