French Open: Garbine Muguruza clashes with Roland-Garros crowd

The Roland Garros crowd clashed with outgoing champion Garbine Muguruza as she lost to home favourite Kristina Mladenovic in Paris on Sunday (4th June). Defending champion Garbine Muguruza experienced a partisan crowd as she battled it out with Kristina Mladenovic on Sunday. Muguruza felt the crowd went too far in their support of Mladenovic. The home favourite is France's great hope of a first singles winner since 2000. Muguruza defeated Serena Williams to win the French Open 12 months ago. But things weren't going her way on Court Suzanne Lenglen. As the Spaniard left the court she was seen wagging her finger at the crowd. She later broke down in tears in her press conference.
