Trouble for Chinese phone makers OPPO, Xiaomi in India; I-T Dept raids premises

In a big crackdown, the IT Department has raided top Chinese phone companies like Xiaomi and OPPO. The Chinese companies are in the dock for allegedly evading taxes and breaking tax rules. Chinese companies have often been on the wrong side of the law; Income-tax officials had raided Chinese-govt controlled ZTE in August over charges of hiding information and evading taxes. Amid scrutiny, Xiaomi and OPPO say they are cooperating with the authorities.
