Trump ‘backs down’ from Taiwan, ‘cancels’ $14000000000 package; Xi ‘wins’ without firing a shot?

Donald Trump has put a $14 billion arms sale to Taiwan on pause, just months after Congress approved what would be the largest weapons transfer to the island in history. The move comes as the U.S. military strains to sustain the war against Iran. Trump has admitted he discussed the Taiwan deal with Xi Jinping in Beijing and now says he “may or may not” approve the package, fuelling accusations that he is backing down under Chinese pressure and leaving Taiwan exposed.
