Fresh tensions around the Persian Gulf have reignited after Iran claimed it shot down a trespassing American aircraft near the strategically sensitive Bushehr nuclear region. Tehran’s media projected the incident as another direct confrontation with Washington at a time when fragile ceasefire negotiations remain uncertain and military pressure continues building around the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state-linked outlets, including Tasnim and Fars News Agency, claimed the country’s integrated air defense systems intercepted a U.S. drone operating near Bushehr province on May 29.
