US F-35 upgrade plan in peril amid Iran's claim it downed jet; 300+ new fighters to go radarless?

The F-35 program is facing a radar integration problem that could leave hundreds of new U.S. jets delivered without the AN/APG-85 if delays continue, according to defense reporting citing program sources and lawmakers. Lot 17 aircraft are being built for the new radar, but the radar is late, and the older AN/APG-81 cannot simply be dropped into the redesigned nose because of bulkhead differences.
