Donald Trump on India-China tension: ‘Very nasty; would love to help’

President Donald Trump said that the United States is ready to help in the India-China border dispute. Trump termed the ongoing tensions at India-China border as a 'very nasty situation'. “It (India-China standoff) has been a very nasty situation. We stand ready to help with respect to China and India. If we can do anything we would love to get involved and help. We are talking to both countries about that,” he said. India, China have been engaged in a standoff since April-May over transgressions by Chinese Army. The situation worsened after 20 Indian soldiers were killed in clashes with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in June. Talks between two sides have been going on for the last three months. India urged China to engage with it to restore peace in border areas through de-escalation. India recently took control of strategic height near Pangong lake's southern bank. It thwarted an attempt by Chinese army to transgress into Indian areas.
