French President says he convinced Donald Trump not to pull out troops

French President Emmanuel Macron has recently said that he convinced US President Donald Trump not to pull out US troops from Syria and instead to commit for a longer term. Earlier this year, Trump had made it known that he wanted to call the troops back home from Syria. Macron also said that he convinced Trump to limit the missile strikes to sites of chemical weapons. The US ambassador to UN Nikki Haley said in a statement that the end goal is to bring the troops back home and that the Syrian government needs to understand that ISIS has to be defeated completely.
