U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to push the already maxed‑out USS Gerald R. Ford into the Middle East as a second carrier against Iran has triggered rare public resistance from the Navy’s top admiral, Adm. Daryl Caudle, Chief of Naval Operations, had said USS Ford would be an “invaluable” option but warned he would “push back” against deployment extensions, calling himself a “sailors‑first” CNO and stressing that crews need predictable seven‑month deployments.
