A 14-year-old Palestinian boy Omar Khmour was shot in the head and killed near Bethlehem in the West Bank as tensions continue to escalate in the region. Khmour was killed after Israeli troops carried out raids in the Dheisheh refugee camp in the southern West Bank. Palestinian ministry said that the teenager succumbed to his wounds. The Israeli army says they opened fire after suspects hurled rocks, explosive devices and molotov cocktails at the troops. Khmour is the second boy killed in the Dheisheh refugee camp in Israeli military raids this month. Violence in the West Bank began to escalate last year following a series of fatal attacks targeting Israelis, after which the Israeli army began carrying out regular raids in the region. 2022 has been the deadliest year of violence in the West Bank since United Nations records began in 2005.
