As Taliban stand at the gates of Kabul, Afghan president Ashraf Ghani has broken his silence on insurgents rampage in the country, vowing to remobilise his armed forces to stop the Taliban advance amid reports that he has been asked by United States to step down. Ghani in a televised speech said that he will do everything to protect Afghanistan from further destruction but did not comment on whether he will resign. India and several other nations meanwhile warned Taliban that if it takes over Kabul by military force, it will not be recognised and will face isolation.
