Russia won’t back down with Iran as Trump ramps up pressure, Lavrov says US undermines world | Watch

Published on Jan 15, 2026 12:44 am IST

Russia has strongly condemned recent U.S. threats to launch military action against Iran, calling them “categorically unacceptable” and a gross violation of international law and norms. Russian officials, including Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, assert that Washington’s rhetoric undermines global stability, weakens the international order, and damages the U.S. image. Moscow also stressed that no outside power should interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and reaffirmed its commitment to working with Tehran on bilateral agreements, while warning that escalation could have serious regional and global consequences.
