In a major shakeup for the Trump administration, U.S. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz is set to step down following the fallout from the so-called "Signalgate" scandal, in which he accidentally added a journalist to a confidential Signal group chat discussing sensitive military operations against Houthi targets in Yemen. The leak, which exposed details of planned U.S. airstrikes and triggered bipartisan outrage, led to mounting pressure for Waltz’s resignation despite initial public support from President Trump.
