U.S. pulls troops from Romania after Burevestnik test, Pentagon calls it routine

Following Russia’s confirmed test of its nuclear-capable Burevestnik missile, Washington has begun a partial troop drawdown from NATO’s eastern flank — pulling the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division out of Romania. The Pentagon called the move a “rebalancing of global posture,” denying that it represents a withdrawal or reduced commitment to NATO or Article 5.
