Alarm is growing in Washington as concerns mount that the United States could deploy ground troops in the escalating war with Iran. Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal voiced strong frustration after attending a classified briefing on the conflict. Speaking to reporters, Blumenthal said he left the briefing “dissatisfied and angry,” describing it as one of the most troubling briefings he has experienced during his 15 years in the United States Senate. The senator warned about the growing risk to American lives if the U.S. military deploys ground forces inside Iran. His comments come after Donald Trump refused to rule out the possibility of sending troops into the country as the conflict intensifies.
