Watch | Driverless cars hit Britain’s roads

Updated on Oct 12, 2016 04:29 pm IST

The driverless car is finally on Britain's streets for the first time. It was developed by Oxbotica. It was founded by pioneers of Oxford University's Mobile Robotics Group. This electric powered pod drives at about 8 kmph and turns at the corners and also stops when pedestrians come its way. The British government is encouraging firms to develop such cars as it is estimated that by 2025, this would be worth $1.1 trillion in the market. Jaguar Land Rover & Ford are part of driverless car projects in Britain and they are aiming to get autonomous vehicles on road by 2020.
