Watch | New technology to differentiate between real and synthetic diamonds

It takes billions of years to produce a natural diamond, but a laboratory can grow one in days and to the untrained eye they look the same. In an attempt to protect its reputation, De Beers has developed technology that can spot the difference. At the moment, synthetic diamonds make up less than one percent of the market. But production is growing and it's clear the industry's concerned. So much so, that over the last two decades, De Beers has invested 30 million pounds on this technology.
