UN-Arab League mission possible in Syria: Ban

United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon has said that the Arab League chief had told him he intended to revive an Arab League monitoring mission in Syria, which has collapsed amid charges that Damascus is not cooperating with it. Ban said urgent international action needs to be taken to protect civilians in Syria, and warned that the violence could spiral through the region.
