Watch | Polish man raises wild squirrel after rescuing it

A resident of Szczecin in Poland had made an unlikely pet.

Tadeusz Lubiarz has recalled how he came to befriend and look after a Eurasian red squirrel.

Lubiarz found him while on a walk with his dogs. Fearing the tiny squirrel the size of a “shoelace” would not survive, Lubiarz nursed him back to health, feeding him milk through a pipette.

Lubiarz said he named his new friend Pitek, after the pipette that helped his recovery. He says the neighbours are quite happy to see the little critter run around the area.
