Watch: Terrifying sinkhole swallows up campsite on Australia’s shoreline
Updated on Sept 28, 2015 04:21 pm IST
Late on Saturday night, a huge sinkhole swallowed up a section of an Australian beach, slightly bigger than a soccer pitch. Campers at Queensland's Rainbow Beach have had a lucky escape after a timely evacuation. No injuries have been reported but the hole managed to swallow up a caravan, car and tents. Fishermen were the first to notice the shoreline quickly receding into the ocean and creating a sinkhole that is 150 meters long, 50 meters wide and three meters deep.
