Retirement home lets Japan's pampered, elderly dogs retire in comfort. Rosen Honpo, a retirement home for dogs has had hundreds spend their last days in comfort. Since, Japan's population is ageing rapidly. More people are adopting four-legged companions late in life, leading to a large number of elderly pets.
Japan came out with a legislation in 2013 which requires all pet owners to provide care for their pets for their entire lifespan. Thus, pet nursing homes or retirement homes are available to provide care for elderly dogs and ease the burden of pet owners.
