The doctor who repeatedly supplied “Friends” star Matthew Perry with the drug ketamine in the weeks before the actor’s 2023 death was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on Wednesday.
Former physician Salvador Plasencia, 44, also known as “Dr. P,” was taken into federal custody.
Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine, according to an autopsy of the 54-year-old. He was discovered unresponsive in the pool at his Pacific Palisades home in October 2023.

Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine, according to an autopsy of the 54-year-old. He was discovered unresponsive in the pool at his Pacific Palisades home in October 2023.
Perry’s mother, Suzanne Morrison, said Plasencia took advantage of her son’s drug addiction, and kept their meetings a secret.
“For what, a few thousand dollars? So he could feed on the vulnerability of our son,” Perry’s mother and stepfather, Keith Morrison said in a victim impact statement.
Plasencia pleaded guilty on July 23 to four counts of distribution of ketamine. He surrendered his California medical license in September 2025.
