Hundreds of users were unable to access Claude normally
The outage also sparked reactions from users online. One Claude Max subscriber on Downdetector wrote, “I wonder if I'll see a downgraded performance or partial outage of my Claude Max bill.”
Some users reported intermittent access, while others said they could not complete prompts or API requests. Developers relying on Claude's API for production workloads also posted screenshots showing request failures and increased latency.
One user wrote, “Claude is going through a major series of outages over the last several hours that repeatedly knock tasks offline; those who have looped tasks or agentic workflows are undoubtedly running into dead ends tonight and will find their work undone in the morning.”
Another user claimed that Claude is working for the government and wrote, “Claude being down for everyone but the government is quite interesting. I wonder if it's mostly due to government not using it at this hour more than just being truly available.”
Anthropic has not indicated whether the latest incident was caused by infrastructure issues, software deployment, or unusually high traffic. The company is expected to release additional details after service is fully restored.
