Anthropic, the AI startup backed by Amazon and seen as one of OpenAI’s biggest challengers, has just rolled out its most advanced AI models to date, Claude 4.
The latest release includes two new models, Claude Opus 4 and Claude Sonnet 4, which the company says are setting a “new standard” in AI capabilities. The models “can analyse thousands of data sources, execute long-running tasks, write human-quality content, and perform complex actions.”
Anthropic launched its Claude chatbot in March 2023, entering the generative AI space. Since then, it has become a leading company in AI, as experts believe it could grow into a trillion-dollar industry in the next decade.

Pricing for Claude Opus 4 starts at $15 per million input tokens and $75 per million output tokens. However, Anthropic says users can cut costs by up to 90% with prompt caching and by 50% with batch processing.

{{/usCountry}}Chief Science Officer Jared Kaplan explained in an interview, “The more complex the task is, the more risk there is that the model is going to kind of go off the rails,” and added, “And we’re really focused on addressing that so that people can really delegate a lot of work at once to our models.”
He added that once testers got their hands on Opus 4 and Sonnet 4, “no one wanted to give up access.” He called the models “much, much stronger as agents and as coders.”
Anthropic touts Claude Opus 4 as the “best coding model in the world,” capable of running autonomously for up to seven hours. The models can access and search the web, manage tools, and even process local files/
“I do a lot of writing with Claude, and I think prior to Opus 4 and Sonnet 4, I was mostly using the models as a thinking partner, but still doing most of the writing myself,” Chief Product Officer Mike Krieger said, per CNBC.

“And they’ve crossed this threshold where now most of my writing is actually ... Opus mostly, and it now is unrecognizable from my writing.”
The company revealed that its annualized revenue hit $2 billion in the first quarter of 2025, up from $1 billion in the previous quarter.
