Erin Piacenti, 32, from Chester, New Jersey, was fatally attacked near the Crossroads of the World on Monday afternoon. The assailant, who also injured an elderly man during the violent episode, was subsequently shot and killed by police.

Piacenti held the position of Vice President of Business Selection and Conflicts at Bank of America in New York City.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and from Fordham Law School in 2021.
The accomplished professional had recently marked her second wedding anniversary on August 10, as per her social media updates.
Piacenti was stabbed in the abdomen during an "unprovoked attack" close to 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m., as reported by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch following the incident.
Following her death, the US banking giant issued a statement, saying: “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones,” as per CTV News.
