Social media videos of mothers throwing water at their children have triggered outrage on X. In the videos, women are seen sitting with infants on their lap and splashing water an them from a cup or a bottle.

“Just another white liberal TikTok mom abusing her child on camera thinking she's funny. CPS needs to pay her a visit immediately,” one X user wrote, sharing a video of a mother splashing water on her child while smiling.
“Imagine thinking this is funny…,” another user wrote.

Another similar video is captioned, “Why are there so many videos circulating online right now of women abusing their children on camera? They’re filming themselves hurting their kids, laughing while they do it. This is pure evil.”

Earlier, TikTok videos of women crying with infants cradled in their arms drew backlash. The videos showed women rocking infants or toddlers with on-screen text like “same, Lindsay” overlaid on excerpts from Clancy's writings about her struggles with anxiety, depression, and despair as a parent.

Critics condemned the videos, labeling the tears staged and the content exploitative, raising alarms about glamorizing filicide. Calls have grown to avoid the recreation of the tragic case.
Lindsay has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. If convicted of murder, she faces life in prison without parole. In case she is found not guilty due to a lack of criminal responsibility, she would be committed to a state mental health facility.
