San Bruno shooting and house fire: One injured, police investigate

Police said officers were working to detain a suspect in connection with the incident.

UPDATE: At least one person was injured after a shooting and a fire erupted in San Bruno, California, on Friday afternoon.

Officers with the San Bruno Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Rosewood Drive, just west of Interstate 280, where they discovered a nearby home engulfed in flames. One victim was transported to a hospital in unknown condition.

Police said officers were working to detain a suspect believed to be in the area. They emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to public safety, according to CBS News.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the San Bruno Police Department said, "The San Bruno Police Department are on scene on the 100 block of Keefe Ct investigating a shooting and structure fire. The scene is still active. Please stay out of the area. We will provide additional information as they are made available."

San Bruno Fire Department posted on Facebook, "The San Bruno Police Department and San Bruno Fire Department are handling an active incident in the area of Rosewood Drive. We ask that you stay out of the area and use alternate routes until further notice. Thank you."

Photos and videos from the scene show massive plumes of smoke. According to KTVU, at least one structure has been completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and it is unclear whether any injuries have been reported. It is unclear if authorities have announced any evacuations at this time.
