Jenny Lupton’s last hours in Hawaii

Jenny Lupton, who leaves behind a 15-year-old son, enjoyed her time in Hawaii during her layover. She shared details about her night with her sister through messages.

"She just went out with one of her flight attendant friends, and they danced and had a good time," Tresa Lupton said. “She had just gotten a tattoo hours before this happened, and she messaged me. She said that when she gets back, she's going to have it colored in because it was just the outline.”

What Lupton's family said

Lupton's family shared that they have not yet been in contact with the police regarding the case. They said they have only been in touch with the medical examiner's office so far for details. Lupton's family told KOCO 5: “We have not talked to the police yet. We have only spoke medical examiner.”

The family were not contacted until 24 hours after her body was found and do not think she died by suicide. “We strongly believe that she didn't do this intentionally, and so that leads us to think it was either some kind of freak accident or someone harmed her,” Lupton's sister, Tresa Lupton, told KFOR. “We just want to know what happened. It doesn't feel real."

The Honolulu Police Department said it has opened an unattended death investigation.
