6.2 earthquake strikes offshore south of Panama

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck 10 kilometers below the Pacific Ocean and 340 kilometres south of Panama, the US Geological Survey said.

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck 10 kilometers below the Pacific Ocean and 340 kilometres south of Panama, the US Geological Survey said.

No tsunami warnings were issued.

The temblor struck at 2323 GMT, the USGS said, with no immediate reports of damage or injuries from Panama.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued no warning of a tsunami threat from the earthquake.
