Gunmen launched a deadly assault on the intelligence headquarters in the town of Zinjibar, in the south Yemen province of Abayan, around 8:00 am (0500 GMT) on Wednesday, witnesses said.

The attackers were armed with rocket-propelled grenades, assault rifles and grenades, a witness said. Witnesses reported "dead and wounded," but could not immediately specify the number of casualties.
