Heavy rain delays start of Olympic field events

The women's 20km race walk got under way on time in the heavy downpour, as did the 100m heats for the decathletes, their first event.

The women's 20km race walk got under way on time in the heavy downpour, as did the 100m heats for the decathletes, their first event.

But the qualifying heats of the men's javelin and women's high jump, as well as the decathlon long jump and shot put, were all put back in the hope the weather would clear.
